Nathaniel Thompson

Nathaniel Thompson runs the longstanding website Mondo Digital, a survey of films ranging from high art to low exploitation, and is the author of five books including the DVD Delirium series. For 16 years he has been a regular contributing writer for Turner Classic Movies and has written regularly for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2011, including working behind the scenes at every Oscar ceremony since then. After his first studio job at DreamWorks SKG, he spent a decade overseeing the production and marketing of DVD and Blu-ray releases for Image Entertainment including the Something Weird, Shaw Brothers, and EuroShock lines.

Nathaniel has contributed over 150 audio commentaries as a film scholar and also in conversation with such talents as Tom Holland, Steve Miner, Catherine Mary Stewart, John Dahl, Larry Buchanan, Robert Downey Sr., Celeste Yarnall, Joseph Zito, Jeffrey Konvitz, Bruce Davison, Lee Montgomery, Michael Sopkiw, Jack Sholder, Tony Randel, Clint Howard, and Barbara Cupisti. He has also appeared in such documentaries as King Cohen, It Was a Colossal Teenage Movie Machine: The American International Pictures Story, and 1982: One Amazing Summer! For home video releases and his site he has conducted interviews with numerous genre figures including Jean Rollin, David F. Friedman, Radley Metzger, Jack Hill, Herschell Gordon Lewis, Pino Donaggio, Lalo Schifrin, John Cacavas, Carter Burwell, and Christopher Young. His writings can also be found in issues of Video Watchdog and publications like FabPress’ Fear Without Frontiers: Horror Cinema Across the Globe.
