Like so many other gialli of the period, the film takes its inspiration from H.G. Clouzot’s classic Les Diaboliques (1955) and places more emphasis on the sexual and psychological head games used to manipulate its frail protagonist than on a high body count. … The film is a classic example of the so-called sexy giallo, with plenty of cool eroticism and a pleasantly “mod” aesthetic to help keep it moving through any plot deficiencies.

With its brazenly sexploitative original title, Orgasmo/Paranoia fittingly takes advantage of the relaxation of censorship in the late Sixties to show nudity and (implied) debauchery while revelling in the sadistic games on display.
