“No one has ever escaped from Alcatraz… and no one ever will.”
Film Synopsis
Escape from Alcatraz (1979) follows an experienced escapee transferred in 1960 to Alcatraz, the maximum-security island prison in San Francisco Bay. Discovering weaknesses in the ageing building, he secretly prepares a breakout with fellow inmates while contending with guards and an authoritarian warden. This prison thriller builds tension through methodical preparations, improvised tools, and the need to conceal each small advance within the institution’s rigid routines.
