Film Synopsis
The Premature Burial (1962) portrays a medical researcher haunted by the possibility that he has inherited his father’s catalepsy and could one day be mistaken for dead. As his anxiety deepens, he constructs an elaborate crypt equipped with safeguards designed to prevent his greatest fear from becoming reality. This Gothic horror film turns the terror of premature burial into a study of paranoia and mortality, with Ray Milland’s increasingly anxious performance and Roger Corman’s claustrophobic direction reinforcing its pervasive sense of entrapment.
