Synopsis
Video Nasties: Draconian Days (2014) centers on the continuing battle over film censorship in Britain following the introduction of the Video Recordings Act 1984 and the decline of the original “video nasties” controversy. As filmmakers, critics, academics, distributors, and former censors revisit the era, the documentary traces the legal restrictions, media campaigns, and cultural debates that defined the late 1980s and early 1990s. This British documentary explores censorship, freedom of expression, and the lasting impact of moral panic on genre cinema and home video culture.
