The Nightcomers (1971) centers on two orphaned children living at a secluded English country estate under the care of a governess, housekeeper, and charismatic gardener. Fascinated by the gardener and his unconventional ideas, they begin observing and imitating his increasingly troubled relationship with their governess. This British psychological horror film combines sexual obsession, manipulation, corrupted innocence, and Gothic atmosphere in an unsettling prequel to Henry James’s The Turn of the Screw.
