His love… or his life…
The Beguiled (1971) follows an injured Union corporal sheltered in an isolated Virginia seminary for women, where his presence awakens desire, jealousy, and suspicion among the headmistress, teacher, and students. As shifting alliances and romantic rivalries intensify within the cloistered household, manipulation and resentment fester behind polite decorum. This psychological drama blends gothic tension and repressed longing in a dark study of power, obsession, and retribution.
