Film Synopsis
An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe (1970) presents Vincent Price performing “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Sphinx,” “The Cask of Amontillado,” and “The Pit and the Pendulum.” Moving between characters and settings, he brings each story to life through voice, expression, and theatrical staging. This television horror special places Poe’s language at the forefront, with its intimate production showcasing Price’s ability to shift between dark humor, psychological torment, and mounting terror.

- Scream Factory’s Blu-ray is included in “The Vincent Price Collection III” box set with Master of the World (1961), Tower of London (1962), Diary of a Madman (1963) and Cry of the Banshee (1970). It contains a 12-page illustrated booklet.
- Arrow’s Blu-ray of Pit and the Pendulum (1961) includes this film as an extra.
- Koch’s Blu-ray of The Masque of the Red Death (1964) includes this film as an extra (SD, PAL).
- MGM’s “Midnite Movies - Double Feature” DVD also includes The Tomb of Ligeia (1964); and no extras.
