Film Synopsis
The Mad Ghoul (1943) chronicles a university scientist whose obsession with conquering death leads him to test a mysterious Mayan gas on his most promising student. As the experiment transforms its victim into an obedient instrument for increasingly gruesome crimes, those closest to him struggle to uncover the truth behind his horrifying condition. Blending horror, science fiction, and crime thriller elements, the film examines scientific obsession, manipulation, and the human cost of sacrificing morality in pursuit of forbidden knowledge.

Edition and Packaging Notes
- Scream Factory’s Blu-ray is included in the “Universal Horror Collection, Volume 2” box set with Murders in the Zoo (1933), The Mad Doctor of Market Street (1942) and The Strange Case of Doctor Rx (1942). It contains a 12-page illustrated booklet.
- Umbrella’s Blu-ray contains no extras. It is included in the “Universal Horror: Monsters & Curiosities” box set. It contains a 100-page booklet and ten art cards.
