Film Synopsis
The Invisible Ray (1936) centers on a visionary scientist whose discovery of a powerful radioactive element during an expedition to Africa exposes him to an unknown force that gradually destroys both his body and his mind. As the element’s corrupting influence fuels paranoia, fractured relationships, and an increasingly desperate search for justice despite a colleague’s efforts to help him, his remarkable achievement becomes the source of his tragic downfall. This science fiction horror film blends Gothic melodrama, speculative science, and psychological tragedy as ambition, jealousy, and the unintended consequences of discovery shape one of Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi’s most memorable collaborations.
