Synopsis
Murders in the Rue Morgue (1971) centers on the leader of a Parisian theatre company whose adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s famous story is interrupted when members of the cast begin falling victim to a brutal killer. As an investigation uncovers long-buried secrets surrounding the troupe and a disfigured former performer, suspicion grows while the murders become increasingly elaborate. This horror mystery blends gothic melodrama, murder mystery, and psychological suspense as revenge, illusion, and obsession shape a highly original reimagining of Poe’s classic tale.
