Synopsis
Web of the Spider (1971) centers on an American journalist who challenges the supernatural tales of Edgar Allan Poe and accepts a bet to remain inside a notorious castle on the night of All Souls’ Eve. As ghostly apparitions, tragic reenactments, and increasingly sinister encounters intensify throughout the night while the castle’s dead inhabitants reveal the horrors that bind them to the estate, his confidence in reason begins to collapse. This Italian-French-West German gothic horror film examines mortality and temptation within a haunted world where the boundary between the living and the dead no longer exists, as fear begins to overtake reason, with ghosts, vampirism, and supernatural doom.
