The Mole People (1956) centers on a team of archaeologists whose expedition into a remote mountain uncovers an isolated Sumerian civilization that has endured beneath the Earth’s surface for thousands of years. As they become caught in the society’s rigid hierarchy, they witness the brutal exploitation of an enslaved race of mole people and the growing unrest that threatens the underground kingdom. This science fiction horror film combines lost-civilization adventure with ancient mythology, emphasizing exploration, tyranny, survival, and humanity’s struggle against oppression.
