Film Synopsis
Macabre (1980) centers on a woman who returns to the New Orleans boarding house where she conducted an affair with a man killed in a car accident. As she isolates herself in their former room, the blind man who manages the house becomes increasingly suspicious of her behavior and the strange sounds he hears upstairs. This Italian psychological horror film builds its mystery around grief and obsessive desire, using the confined setting and a gradual accumulation of unsettling details to transform private mourning into something increasingly macabre.
