Lady Frankenstein (1971) centers on a brilliant young surgeon who inherits her father’s research after he is killed by the creature he has brought to life. As attempts to improve upon the original experiment, increasingly dangerous brain-transplant procedures, and a growing obsession with controlling both science and human desire intensify while a murderous monster roams the countryside, her pursuit of perfection leads to tragedy and destruction. This Italian gothic horror film examines ambition and obsession within a world shaped by forbidden science and moral corruption, as personal boundaries erode, with mad experimentation, bodily transformation, and destructive desire.
