The picture that leaps ahead of the headlines!
Synopsis
First Man Into Space (1959) follows an ambitious test pilot determined to push an experimental rocket aircraft beyond its safety limits in order to become the first man to reach outer space. After a dangerous flight above the atmosphere exposes him to unknown cosmic particles, he parachutes back to Earth but disappears under mysterious circumstances. This British-American science fiction horror film blends space-race speculation, Cold War anxieties, and creature-feature terror as the transformed astronaut becomes a lethal threat on the ground.
