Synopsis

Bob le flambeur (1956) centers on a veteran gambler and ex-criminal living in Montmartre whose mounting debts and compulsive nightlife habits lead him to organize an ambitious heist targeting a Deauville casino. As police surveillance, criminal betrayal, and unreliable accomplices begin complicating the carefully timed operation while Bob’s own weakness for gambling threatens the plan from within, the line between professional precision and self-destruction steadily collapses. This French crime drama examines aging and fatalism within a changing postwar underworld, as rival pressures begin to close in, with gambling addiction, criminal loyalty, and existential drift.
