Film Synopsis
The Warrior (1981) follows the rebel leader Jaka Sembung, who inspires his people to fight against the oppressive Dutch colonial government in 19th‑century Java. As Sembung battles supernatural warriors and magical assassins sent to kill him, his struggle becomes both physical and spiritual. This fantasy martial‑arts epic blends anti‑colonial heroism, mystical elements, and fierce combat in a stirring tale of resistance and honor.

- Mondo Macabro’s “Limited Edition” Blu-ray is included in “The Warrior Collection” box set with The Warrior and the Blind Swordsman (1983) and The Warrior and the Ninja (1985). It contains a 16-page booklet with writing by Hikmat Darmawan (“Djair & The Warrior(s)”). Reissued separately as a standard edition without booklet (2024/11/12).
