Mystics in Bali (1981) centers on an anthropologist who travels to Bali to study the mystical practices of the Leák. As an ancient witch initiates her into the forbidden rituals of black magic while the dark forces she seeks to understand gradually transform her into a monstrous supernatural being, those closest to her struggle to break the curse before it is too late. This Indonesian supernatural horror film examines obsession and forbidden knowledge within a world shaped by folklore and occult traditions, as curiosity gives way to possession, transformation, and supernatural terror.
