Mystics in Bali (1981) follows an anthropologist who travels to Bali to research black magic and encounters the leader of a secretive Leák cult. As she submits to the witch’s teachings, her transformation deepens and her actions grow increasingly detached from her former identity, drawing others into a widening supernatural threat. This Indonesian horror film blends folkloric mythology, surreal transformation, and exploitation imagery in an examination of obsession, possession, and the loss of self.
