Critical Perspective
-
The Red Queen Kills Seven Times is a marked improvement on director Emilio Miraglia’s first giallo, The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave (1971). Both films share a similar Gothic location and contrast the garish contemporary world with the stately past, but The Red Queen feels more sure-footed and is consistently engaging. … The Red Queen Kills Seven Times is a great deal of fun. It moves at a steady pace, looks good and offers up the kind of elegant exploitation one has grown to love in these films. It is ideal “comfort food” for the giallo fan looking to fall back on an old favorite.
