Film Synopsis
Planet of the Vampires (1965) follows the crew of two interstellar ships who land on a mysterious planet after receiving a distress signal, only to fall under the influence of a sinister alien force. As the dead rise and paranoia spreads, the survivors realize they are caught in a struggle between life and possession. This science-fiction horror blends cosmic dread and gothic atmosphere in Mario Bava’s visually stunning meditation on isolation, fear, and the unknown.

- Plaion’s “Collectors Edition” 4K Blu-ray includes a booklet with writing by Leonard Elias Lemke (in German).
- Kino’s 2022 Blu-ray includes trailers for Hercules in the Haunted World (1961), Black Sabbath (1963), The Whip and the Body (1963), Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs (1966) and Hatchet for the Honeymoon (1970).
- Radiance’s Blu-ray includes an 80-page booklet with writing by Kyle Anderson, Martyn Conterio, Barry Forshaw, George Daniel Lea and Jerome Reuter, a 20-page booklet of Renato Pestriniero’s original short story, and six art cards. Reissued with only 20-page booklet (2024/10/28).
