They lived by eating human bones… and threatened to consume the world!
Film Synopsis
Island of Terror (1966) centers on two doctors who travel to a remote island off the Irish coast after a string of unexplained deaths is linked to a medical research facility. As they uncover the catastrophic results of an experimental cancer treatment, they race to stop a rapidly multiplying species of bone-consuming creatures before the infestation spreads beyond the island. This British science fiction horror film blends creature feature thrills with medical horror as scientific ambition, survival, and human ingenuity collide against an escalating biological menace.
Critical Perspective
-
Island of Terror remains one of the more entertaining sci-fi/horror hybrids of the 1960s. … While some might consider it just another creature feature, the film’s literate script and intelligent acting make this Island a worthy destination for discerning fans of 1960s horror and sci-fi.
