Synopsis
Dr. Cyclops (1940) portrays a team of specialists summoned to an isolated South American laboratory by a reclusive scientist pursuing revolutionary research beyond the limits of accepted science. As the visitors uncover the true nature of his experiments, they must overcome impossible circumstances while facing a ruthless adversary determined to protect his work at any cost. Combining science fiction, adventure, and horror, the film explores scientific obsession, unchecked ambition, and the ethical consequences of knowledge pursued without restraint.

King Kong co-director Ernest B. Schoedsack [gave] audiences the first American horror film in three-strip Technicolor … Like Charles Laughton’s Dr. Moreau in Erle C. Kenton’s 1932 Island of Lost Souls, the results of Thorkel’s researches are less science gone wrong and rather science gone right for the purpose of just being evil and wanting a bit of entertainment.
