In her eyes… evil! In her lips… doom!
Film Synopsis
Daughter of Darkness (1948) follows a young Irish woman sent to work on a Yorkshire farm after local hostility forces her to leave her village. Her employer grows suspicious of her influence on the household’s men, while a travelling boxer renews his unwelcome pursuit of her. This Gothic psychological thriller uses shadowed church interiors and recurring organ music to give its rural story of desire and exclusion an atmosphere of dread.
