Film Synopsis
Burnt Offerings (1976) follows a writer who moves with his wife, son, and elderly aunt into a sprawling countryside mansion offered at an unusually low price. As the family settles in under the condition that they care for a reclusive occupant upstairs, the house exerts a growing influence over their behavior, intensifying tension and driving them toward emotional and psychological instability. This horror film blends domestic unease, supernatural suggestion, and slow-building dread in an examination of family breakdown, obsession, and the consuming power of place.
