Film Synopsis
The Turn of the Screw (1974) centers on a governess employed to look after two children living in a remote English country house after the deaths of their parents. As she becomes convinced the children are being influenced by the ghosts of a former governess and her lover, strange behavior and increasingly disturbing apparitions deepen her uncertainty about the estate and her own perceptions. This supernatural gothic horror film centers on psychological instability and spectral influence, as fear begins to overtake reason, with isolation, repression, and supernatural obsession.
