Film Synopsis
Night of the Seagulls (1975) follows a doctor and his wife who relocate to a remote coastal village only to uncover ancient rituals and undead Templar knights that rise from the sea every seven years to claim human sacrifices. As they encounter frightened villagers, strange customs, and the blind, relentless knights hunting by sound, fear and futility close in around them with each passing night. This Spanish horror blends folkloric undead terror and bleak atmosphere in a chilling finale to the Blind Dead saga.
Critical Perspective

Sadly, the series ends up at a bit of a low point. A lot of the sex and violence is toned down in order to make the film more of a folk tale than an actual horror film. The attention to atmosphere is admirable with the seashore making an attractive setting for the Templars’ slow-motion romps (aided by the seagulls who announce the Templars’ arrival, hence the name of the film), but the high-mindedness of the film takes away from the exploitation factor. No lesbian gropings here, and the violence is played down.
