Cloudburst (1951) follows a Canadian World War II veteran living in London whose pregnant wife is killed by a pair of criminals fleeing a murder scene in a hit-and-run accident. Broken with grief and determined to make them pay as they did to his wife, he uses his wartime skills and contacts to track down the killers and confront them in a personal campaign of vengeance. As the detective assigned to the case follows his trail, the story becomes a tense mixture of crime drama and moral reckoning about justice and rage.
