Synopsis
Berlin Express (1948) centers on American, British, French, Soviet, and German travelers journeying through occupied Germany after World War II while escorting a respected statesman working to promote democratic reconstruction. As kidnappings, assassinations, and sabotage attempts intensify around the mission while the passengers join forces to uncover the conspiracy behind the attacks, their investigation carries them through the ruins and political uncertainties of postwar Europe. This film noir thriller examines international cooperation and political instability within a devastated postwar landscape, as suspicion spreads, with espionage, reconstruction, and Cold War tensions.
