“My mother was a stripper… I want to be a stripper too!”
Beat Girl (1960) follows a resentful teenage girl who clashes with her architect father after he remarries and imposes stricter control over her life. As she drifts into Soho’s nightlife of coffee bars, strip clubs, and rebellious youths, her search for independence exposes her to manipulation and exploitation. This British youth drama blends exploitation spectacle and social anxiety in a portrait of generational conflict and moral panic.
