Film Synopsis
99 Women (1969) centers on several women transferred to an isolated prison island overseen by a sadistic commandant and a corrupt warden who maintain control through intimidation and violence. As rivalries, escape attempts, and escalating abuse intensify within the deteriorating prison environment while new inmates disrupt the fragile hierarchy among guards and prisoners, tensions steadily move toward revolt and retaliation. This West German-Spanish women-in-prison exploitation film examines institutional cruelty and survival within a sexually charged atmosphere of confinement, as control begins to break down, with authoritarian abuse, rebellion, and psychological degradation.
