The Vampire Happening (1971) centers on an American actress who travels to Europe after inheriting a Transylvanian castle and discovers that she closely resembles her vampiric ancestor. When the long-dead woman rises from her tomb, her nocturnal activities draw the castle’s new owner into a series of increasingly bizarre encounters with vampires and their pursuers. This German comedy horror film combines Gothic vampire conventions, erotic humor, and broad farce in an irreverent parody of classic vampire cinema.
