Another dramatic hit from Academy Award director Michael Curtiz!
A suave jewel thief and his accomplice plan a daring heist, but their scheme becomes complicated when a wealthy socialite and her jealous husband become entangled in their plans. Suspicion, passion, and betrayal escalate as the characters’ motivations clash and the crime spirals out of control. The story builds to a tense climax where greed and desire lead to unexpected consequences.

Two young lovers decide to start a new life after stealing from a couple of criminals and soon after their plan falls apart in The Scarlet Hour, a very stylish film noir directed by Michael Curtiz. It appears that The Scarlet Hour is not universally regarded as a great film noir, but I would not hesitate to place it close to Double Indemnity and compare Carol Ohmart’s performance to Barbara Stanwyck’s.
