Film Synopsis
The Phenix City Story (1955) follows a crusading Alabama lawyer and his son as they confront a deeply entrenched crime syndicate that dominates their hometown with gambling, prostitution, and corruption. When the father runs for state attorney general on a reform platform, he becomes a target—and is ultimately assassinated, prompting his son to pick up the fight for justice. This crime-noir drama blends semi-documentary realism and political urgency in a powerful study of civic courage and organized corruption.
