The secrets of a street you know.
It Always Rains on Sunday (1947) follows a weary East End housewife whose strained domestic life is upended when an escaped convict from her past secretly takes refuge in her home. As police tighten their search and tensions rise across the neighborhood, her attempts to hide him expose buried emotions, moral compromises, and the fragility of her everyday stability. This postwar British noir blends kitchen-sink realism, shadowy suspense, and intimate character drama in a somber portrait of longing and entrapment.
