Film Synopsis
Ex-Lady (1933) focuses on a New York commercial artist who values her independence and resists marrying the advertising writer she loves. After pressure from her father and lover persuades her to wed, difficulties in their shared business and growing jealousy unsettle the freedom and trust they previously enjoyed. This pre-Code relationship drama uses candid dialogue and a modern professional setting to question whether intimacy can endure the conventions of marriage.
