Synopsis
Break in the Circle (1955) centers on a boat captain and smuggler who accepts a lucrative assignment from a wealthy German financier to extract a Polish scientist possessing a valuable scientific formula from behind the Iron Curtain. As rival intelligence agents, criminal conspirators, and shifting loyalties complicate the mission while the true motives behind the rescue operation begin to emerge, the assignment develops into a dangerous struggle for survival across postwar Europe. This British crime thriller examines greed and political intrigue within the uncertain landscape of the early Cold War, as competing interests begin to collide, with espionage, scientific secrets, and double-crosses.
