Film Synopsis
A… For Assassin (1966) follows a group of relatives and associates called to a secluded castle following the death of a wealthy nobleman. As they remain gathered to hear the terms of his will, tensions rise and a masked killer begins targeting those present. This Italian mystery thriller blends inheritance intrigue, isolated-location suspense, and early giallo-style murder mystery elements.
Critical Perspective

The stage version of A… come assassino [written by Ernesto Gastaldi] beat Mario Bava’s The Girl Who Knew Too Much (1963) to the punch by a solid three years, but it took it until later in the decade to finally make the transition to the screen. By that time, numerous lurid gialli had already been produced, making Gastaldi’s model, which was clearly indebted to Agatha Christie and the classic drawing-room mysteries, appear a bit quaint and antiquated.
