Synopsis
24 ore di terrore (1964) follows a shadowy traveler escorted from Rome to France under suspicious circumstances after being targeted and replaced by an impostor. As the impostor joins a gang of smugglers hiding in an isolated castle while awaiting a heroin shipment, members of the group are mysteriously murdered in succession. This Italian crime thriller blends giallo-style suspense, criminal conspiracy, and paranoia among isolated suspects.
Criticism
-
The filmmakers cannot seem to make up their mind if they are making a gangster film, a giallo or a Gothic, and the end result is unsatisfactory on every level. … The film is not quite the worst of the gialli of the era, but it is certainly in the bottom tier.
