Interrabang is part of the more offbeat strain of gialli, the ones which do not really play by the rules as such, but which still have enough tropes working for them to warrant inclusion as a giallo proper. The story is pure late ’60s swinging sexuality as a group of disaffected characters lounge about looking fabulous, all the while wishing that they had a little more happiness and substance in their lives. … Things take a definite surprise turn in the last section, and the film ends on an incident which is truly worthy of an … interrabang! … The attractive cast, beautiful locations, catchy music score and colorful cinematography make the film compelling to watch, even if you are bound to leave the film scratching your head. It is much too fun to ever come off as pretentious or “arty,” but the film’s goals clearly were geared in different directions than the usual sleazy or visceral thrills one typically finds in the giallo. Suffice it to say, there is nothing quite like it in the long and convoluted history of the giallo—and on that level alone, it is worth seeking out.
