Vanishing Point (1971) centers on a former race driver and ex-police officer who accepts a bet to transport a Dodge Challenger from Denver to San Francisco in record time. As highway patrol units across multiple states attempt to stop him and his increasingly reckless journey attracts public attention through radio broadcasts, he encounters drifters, counterculture figures, and mounting resistance along the open road. This road thriller examines personal freedom and social alienation within a collapsing counterculture landscape, as authorities tighten their pursuit, with rebellion, isolation, and existential drift.
