Synopsis
The Thirty Nine Steps (1978) follows a mining engineer visiting London who is drawn into danger when a retired intelligence officer reveals a secret plot by foreign agents planning a political assassination. As the officer is murdered and the engineer becomes a target of both spies and the authorities, he races across Britain to uncover the conspiracy and prevent the attack. This British spy thriller blends espionage intrigue, adventure, and prewar tension in a suspenseful tale of an ordinary man caught in an international plot.
