Film Synopsis
The Servant (1963) centers on a privileged London bachelor who hires an efficient and seemingly devoted servant to manage his household while he pursues a life of leisure. As the servant gains increasing control over the home, undermines personal relationships, and introduces a web of psychological dependency while blurring traditional class boundaries, the balance of power steadily shifts in unexpected and disturbing ways. This British psychological drama examines class conflict and personal domination within an increasingly claustrophobic domestic environment, as personal boundaries erode, with social manipulation, dependency, and moral disintegration.
