Film Synopsis
The Devil and Miss Jones (1941) chronicles a wealthy businessman who secretly takes a low-level job at his department store after employees begin organizing against management. Determined to identify the troublemakers, he instead becomes drawn into the lives of a saleswoman and her coworkers as he experiences working conditions from their perspective. This screwball comedy turns an undercover scheme into a warm satire of class and workplace hierarchy, finding humor and humanity in the distance between wealth and everyday experience.
