Film Synopsis
Popeye (1980) follows Popeye as he arrives in the seaside town of Sweethaven searching for the father he has not seen in thirty years. His growing bond with Olive Oyl and the foundling Swee’Pea draws him into conflict with Bluto, the bully who dominates the town. This musical comedy uses a deliberately artificial comic-strip world and eccentric ensemble humour to explore family, belonging, and community among Sweethaven’s outsiders.
