Film Synopsis
Passage to Marseille (1944) centers on a French journalist unjustly imprisoned on Devil’s Island who escapes with four fellow convicts determined to fight for their homeland. After being rescued by a French freighter, the men find their return complicated by France’s surrender and conflicting loyalties aboard the ship. This war drama unfolds through an intricate series of flashbacks, connecting one man’s experience of injustice and exile with a broader portrait of sacrifice and resistance among the Free French.
