Synopsis
Matango (1963) follows a group of shipwreck survivors who make landfall on a fog-shrouded island after a devastating storm, hopeful for rescue. As they consume strange mushrooms found on the island, their bodies and minds begin to transform, eroding cohesion and igniting paranoia. This science-fiction horror blends isolating dread and grotesque mutation in a stark study of survival, contagion, and the fragility of humanity.
