Madame X (1966) follows a devoted wife cast out from high society after a scandalous misunderstanding forces her into years of exile and hardship under assumed identities. As she drifts through a succession of desperate circumstances and sacrifices everything to protect her son from the truth, fate leads her into a tragic courtroom reckoning. This melodrama blends maternal devotion and social downfall in a solemn study of sacrifice and lost respectability.
