Synopsis
John Farrow: Hollywood’s Man in the Shadows (2021) follows the life and career of the Australian-born filmmaker whose prolific output of more than fifty Hollywood films and hidden personal contradictions made him one of the most enigmatic figures of the studio era. As interviews with family, critics, and collaborators probe his films, wartime service, artistic vision and personal paradoxes, his legacy unfolds through clips, recollections, and the very shadows he cast on cinema history. This documentary blends biography and cinematic excavation in a reflective study of creativity and obscurity.
