It Came from Beneath the Sea (1955) follows the crew of a U.S. Navy submarine who discover a giant radioactive octopus disturbed by atomic testing in the Pacific. As the creature rises from the depths to attack coastal cities, scientists and the military race to destroy it before it devastates San Francisco. This science-fiction monster film blends Cold War anxiety and maritime adventure in a thrilling portrait of mankind’s hubris against nature’s wrath.
